22.02.2021 /

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) consulted on the current issues of the sector via videoconference under the chairmanship of TOBB Vice President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu and the Turkish Plastic, Rubber and Composite Industry Council President Yavuz Eroğlu.

The problems caused by price increases were expressed at the meeting where the negative effects of the increases in raw material prices starting as of the third quarter of 2020 on the industry were evaluated.

At the meeting, where taxes on products in plastics, rubber and composite sector raw material imports were also discussed in detail, information about products subject to reference asset application, products subject to supervision and anti-dumping products was made by the Council President. At the meeting, a presentation on raw material prices was also made by PETKÄ°M.

Evaluations were made to suspend taxes on plastic raw materials, such as reference price, surveillance, anti-dumping, additional financial obligations and countries removed from the List of Countries on the Road to Development, until this wave of force majeure has settled. It was underlined that it is important to produce policies to meet the investment and resource needs of the recycling industry, especially domestically.

At the meeting, it was stated that it was gratifying that there was a significant decrease in YEKDEM price with the transition to TL instead of dollar indexed price, and that the arrangement is expected to reflect positively on the industry.
