Turkish Forest Products Council held its April meeting

The meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Forest Products Council was held with the participation of the Council Members under the chairmanship of TOBB Board Member Oğuzhan A. Sadıkoğlu and Council President Haluk Yıldız.​

Oğuzhan A. Sadıkoğlu expressed his satisfaction to be with the representatives of the sector and noted that the need for forest products affected the sector, they faced an increase in demand for MDF and chipboard due to the pandemic, and TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu met with the actors on the subject and closely followed the problems of the forest sector. Afterwards, he expressed his thanks to General Manager Bekir Karacabey, who attended the meeting from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and stating that they support the sector as TOBB, ensuring the follow-up of every problem raised by the sector representatives and that they forwarded it to the relevant authorities as TOBB.

Forest Products Council President Haluk Yıldız stated that our country has increased its effect in all sectors in the coming period due to the changing value chain balances in the world. Yıldız stated that the dependence on imports on the raw material side has decreased, especially with the diligent work of the General Directorate of Forestry in recent years. Yıldız stated that they will continue to grow steadily as they have done, and emphasized that the expansion of the allocation system in the supply of forest products is also on their agenda as the most critical expectations at this point.

Forest General Manager Bekir Karacabey, who attended the meeting, answered the questions of the council members and stated that they are working to address the problems related to the sector, increasing production every year to meet the need for raw materials and planning for industrial forest cultivation works.
