Forest Products Council discussed sectoral problems

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Turkish Forest Products Council held the continuation of the face-to-face meetings, previously suspended for a long time due to the pandemic, at the Istanbul Service Building with the participation of TOBB Board Member Oğuzhan Ata Sadıkoğlu and under the chairmanship of Council President Haluk Yıldız. All of the Council Members attended the meeting, where important agenda items were on behalf of the sector.​

After the opening speeches, the sectoral developments in the world and in our country were summarized and the sectoral expectations and projections were emphasized, agenda items were discussed.

During the negotiations, which were held in a very efficient and interactive environment, detailed negotiations were carried out on the planned changes to be made in the forest product sales system of the General Directorate of Forestry, the developments regarding the lifting of the ban on the export of hardwood timber and the opinions on the establishment of TSE standards and pallet rental system in wooden pallet production respectively and decisions were taken regarding the agenda.

In particular, the integration of the forest products sector and the work of the General Directorate of Forestry, which supports this sector through the supply of raw materials, and the synergy of working together were brought to the forefront, and the cooperation, cooperation and coordination mechanisms of public and private sector forestry organizations in the fight against forest fires in order to ensure the protection and sustainability of our forests were emphasized.

Preliminary preparations, studies and reports on the agenda items were made by the assigned commission and it was agreed that important and feasible decisions should be taken at the next meeting. TOBB Turkey Forest Products Council meeting, where highly productive negotiations were carried out, ended with requests of the members.
