Türkiye Telecommunications Council meets in İstanbul

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Telecommunications Council, chaired by Council President Mustafa Kemal Turnacı, convened at the TOBB İstanbul Service Building with the participation of TOBB Board Member Tuncay Yıldırım, Deputy Minister of Trade Mahmut Gürcan, and Director General of Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance Avni Dilber.
During the meeting, issues on the telecommunications sector’s current agenda were discussed, and an exchange of views took place between Council members and representatives of public institutions.
In this context, matters related to authorization processes under regulations governing installment plans for cell phones and refurbished devices were evaluated. Council members shared information on current practices, challenges encountered, and proposed solutions regarding the issue.
Later in the meeting, practices and rules regarding refurbishment centers and on-site refurbishment points for used cell phones and smartwatches were discussed. The industry’s views and assessments on the matter were shared.
In addition, regulations regarding the commercial messaging activities of over-the-network service providers and matters related to remote bulk transactions for corporate subscriptions in the electronic communications sector were discussed.
The meeting concluded with general assessments after the Council Members shared their views and recommendations on current issues in the sector.
