The Türkiye Carbon Pricing Forum 2026 was held in Ankara on September 8, 2026. Organized as part of the “Fit for Carbon Pricing - F4CP” project, the Forum addressed topics such as the Turkish Emissions Trading System, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and decarbonization in industry.

In the panel titled “Decarbonization in Industry and CBAM: The Sector’s Level of Preparedness, Challenges, and Opportunities,” with contributions from representatives of the Ministry of Trade, TOBB, UNIDO, and TÜSİAD, assessed preparations for the EU CBAM, the competitiveness of the industry, and the challenges encountered during the adaptation process.

Ahmet Saygın Baban, Head of the Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department representing TOBB at the panel, provided insights on data requests from importers in the EU, the capacity needed for monitoring, reporting, and verifying emissions, and the financing of green transition investments.

Baban emphasized the importance of facilitating access to affordable, long-term financing for businesses that prepare reliable emissions data and present realistic transition plans. He noted that conveying feedback received from Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Sector Councils to the relevant institutions would help SMEs, in particular, prepare for the green transition process.
