Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

Public announcement

25.06.2019 / Ankara

Today, various internet sites and social media have published articles titled, “The first obstacle for Yavaş, Hisarcıklıoğlu: No approval for New Public Bread management,” which has made it necessary to provide clarification to address unfair allegations against the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu:

1. According to the provisions of Article 24 of the Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102, trade registry activities are carried out within the chamber of commerce (or chamber of commerce and industry) in the province under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce. The trade registry offices establish transactions in accordance with the relevant law and the regulations and instructions issued by the Ministry of Trade. The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey has no direct relationship with the trade registry activities.

2. However, in our examination of the news, it was determined that the request for the registration of the board of directors of Ankara Public Bread and Flour Factory Co. Inc. was made to the Ankara Trade Registry Office operating within the Ankara Chamber of Commerce and not to the TOBB as claimed.

3. We have been informed that in the letter of interest of Ankara Trade Registry Directorate and Ministry of Trade and Ministry of Environment and Urbanization it was stated that, “Municipalities’ appointment of representatives for companies with which they are partners or managers is authorized through the municipal council,” and applications should be established accordingly.

We respectfully announce this to the public.
