The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu urged electronic commerce sites to apply for trust seals, saying, “We expect all e-commerce sites registered with the Electronic Commerce Information System (ETBİS) to apply for a trust seal so that they can easily increase their business volumes.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu, organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Turkey's e-commerce data was also announced in the Electronic Commerce Information System Digital Promotion Meeting, said that the importance of e-commerce with the Covid-19 pandemic has increased even more.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the monitoring of the sector and the evaluation of the data have become very important, and that the design of policies and incentives to be given to improve the sector needs to be monitored of e-commerce data. Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded that the sector's data in the Turkish Sectoral Economy Council conveyed the importance of one hand collection.

Referring to the efforts carried out by TOBB to increase the development and volume of e-commerce in the country, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “TOBB Turkey e-Commerce Council, which we established in 2016, has become a public-private consultation platform in which Turkey's leading e-commerce companies develop their relations with the public. We identify the barriers to the sector, develop proposals and implement them, producing joint strategies for the development of the sector. With the e-Export Committee established within our assembly, we design incentives for SMEs to be opened to the world through electronic commerce and carry out work to facilitate customs processes. With the initiatives of our Union and the support of our Ministry of Commerce, customs procedures in the process of the return of goods sold abroad via e-commerce have decreased significantly. In addition, in order for women to be active in the economy, the regulation that will bring tax exemptions has been implemented when selling what they produce to women entrepreneurs through e-commerce. I thank our government.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu, touching on Covid-19 epidemic with the trainings organized by entrepreneurs, digitalization, e-commerce and e-export, emphasizing its benefits, “We teach how to carry their business to e-commerce, we are building an e-export bridge from Turkey to Europe.”

- “Let consumers look for the trust seal”

Noting that the Electronic Commerce Information Platform will take on critical tasks during this period, Hisarcıklıoğlu noted that through the “Electronic Commerce Information Platform, we will be able to see the most accurate information about the sector and query the registered e-commerce sites and access statistical information. With the authorization of our Ministry of Commerce, we began to give a seal of trust to e-commerce sites. One of the two criteria we have checked on sites applying for trust seal is whether it is a member of ETBİS. If they are a member, then they can become eligible for a trust seal.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu, recalling that, with Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, last week they announced 18 e-commerce sites that received trust seals, said, “With this campaign we say to consumers 'The most important point that will address the lack of trust you encounter when shopping in electronic media is that if there is a trust seal on a site, you can easily shop, you can use your credit card.' I invite all trading sites to receive seal trusts. On this occasion, we expect all e-commerce sites registered with ETBİS to apply for a trust seal so that they can easily increase their business volumes.”
