M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), attended the Retail Summit organized by the Turkish Retailers Federation.

In his speech at the event, Hisarcıklıoğlu noted that digitalization, e-commerce, data management, and artificial intelligence will be decisive factors in the future of the retail sector, stating, “The number of businesses engaged in e-commerce in Türkiye has risen from approximately 100,000 to 635,000 within five years.”

Noting that artificial intelligence systems will compare products and provide purchasing recommendations to consumers, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that digitalization will not eliminate physical stores but will redefine them.

Hisarcıklıoğlu highlighted the importance of barcode systems for inventory management, automated ordering, shipping, traceability, and consumer safety, and stressed the need for greater support for local producers and products with geographical indications.
