Commenting on the meeting via his social media account, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated the following:
“Our Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum, announced the ‘COP31 Action Agenda’ at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
As the #COP31 Private Sector Representative, we were there to strengthen climate diplomacy. As the business community, we welcome the #COP31 Action Agenda. This agenda does not consist of new promises; it sets forth clear, measurable, and actionable goals.”
Increasing electricity’s share of final energy consumption to 35 percent by 2035 is one of the greatest investment stories of our time, spanning from the grid to industry, and from transportation to buildings. The goal of more than doubling the rate of circular material use to 15 percent will enhance both the competitiveness and resource security of our industry.
The Climate Action Bridge (BRIDGE), meanwhile, aims to resolve the key bottleneck, financing, and transform national plans into investment-ready projects; it is of vital importance, particularly for developing countries and SMEs.
“I would like to thank our Minister for his leadership and for opening the door to the private sector from day one. Governments set these goals, but the business community brings them to life. As #COP31 Private Sector Ambassadors, we too will work with all our might to put this agenda into practice.”
