M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), stated that the recognition of Türkiye as an integral part of the European value chain and the classification of products as EU-origin under the Customs Union in the European Union’s (EU) new industrial policy draft are important and strategic developments.

Hisarcıklıoğlu shared his thoughts on the EU’s “Made in EU” requirement on his social media account.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that effective commercial diplomacy conducted through public-private sector cooperation has yielded results during a period of deepening trade wars and increasing geopolitical risks. He said, “The recognition of Türkiye as an integral part of the European value chain and the designation of our products as EU-origin within the Customs Union in the European Union’s new industrial policy draft (Industrial Accelerator Act), Türkiye’s recognition as an integral part of the European value chain and the classification of our products as EU-origin within the Customs Union is an extremely important and strategic development.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that the current goal is to ensure that this draft becomes law while preserving the gains, adding: “The goal is to further strengthen Türkiye’s position in the European industrial ecosystem and advance economic integration with the EU, including the modernization of the Customs Union. We would like to thank everyone who has worked hard in this process, especially our Minister of Trade, Mr. Ömer Bolat.”
