Mining Council held its first meeting of 2021

The first meeting of 2021 of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Turkey Mining Council was held online to discuss the current problems of the sector with the participation of representatives of public, non-governmental organizations and private sectors under the chairmanship of TOBB Board Member Şaban Aziz Karamehmetoğlu and Council President İbrahim Halil Kırşan.​

In his opening speech, TOBB Board Member Şaban Aziz Karamehmetoğlu stated that TOBB has carried out arrangements to relieve the sector by working one-on-one with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry about the problems experienced in forest permits in the mining sector.

Following the opening speeches, Council President İbrahim Halil Kırşan gave the floor to communication expert Ali Saydam to make the presentations on the agenda item of the meeting, “What can be done to change the negative perception of the mining sector.” In their presentations, councilors and other participants were informed about the importance of better expressing the mining sector to the public and what can be done about it.


Regarding the agenda, Councilors and participants talked about the necessity of following the examples of the mining sector abroad and approaching mining from a technical point of view in order for the sector to express itself better, and the importance of better use of different communication channels.
