President Erdoğan received TOGG Board Members

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received members of the Board of Directors of Turkey's Automobile Enterprise Group (TOGG) and Keith Kepler, CEO of FARASIS Energy, TOGG's business partner.​

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and Chairman of TOGG Board of Directors M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, TOGG Board Members and TOGG Executive Director Mehmet Gürcan Karakaş attended the closed-door reception at the Presidential Complex.

During the meeting, the delegation informed President Erdoğan about the investments, particularly in the development and production of domestic battery products.

TOGG Chairman Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that SiRo was born out of their partnership with Farasis Energy, one of the largest manufacturers of the battery market, to develop energy storage solutions for automotive and non-automotive applications.

Stating that the name SiRo comes from Silk Road, the English language of the historical Silk Road, which connects East and West and plays an important role in the development of civilizations, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “SiRo is a strategic step that will contribute to the technological transformation of the mobility ecosystem in our country. With SiRo, we will produce TOGG's battery modules and packages and develop energy storage solutions in Turkey and surrounding countries.”

With this initiative, Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that they aim to be a pioneer in improving Turkey's energy system efficiency, and said, “We aim to reduce dependence on energy and accelerate the development of a clean and efficient energy system.”

Farasis Energy Co-Founder Kepler said, “The joint venture we have launched with TOGG in Turkey is Farasis' most important partnership abroad in the coming years. Therefore, we will spend all our efforts on the successful growth of this new company.”

- Europe's first native electric SUV

TOGG, which emerged with the goal of creating a globally competitive car brand with which Turkey has intellectual and industrial property rights, will be Europe's first native electric SUV when it comes off the band in the last quarter of 2022.

TOGG will launch all 5 different models by 2030. Electric, connected and next-generation cars with a 51 percent domesticity rate will be produced at the factory in Gemlik, which is built on an area of 1.2 million square meters.
