Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Osman DoÄŸan Åžahlan stated that he believes that Uzbekistan has a great future with its young and dynamic population nearing 35 million, historical accumulation, strategic position, rich natural resources and developing industry, and expressed appreciation for the reform process led by President Mirziyoyev.
Looking at this year's first ten months of data, Åžahlan stated that Turkey ranks fifth in Uzbekistan's foreign trade with a trade volume of $1.6 billion and emphasized that trade figures should be moved to a level that is in line with our historical and cultural relationships.
Also at the opening of the meeting were Turkish Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mehmet Süreyya Er, Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Dr. Adham Ikramov and Uzbekistan Embassy in Ankara Economic Advisor Azizbek Salahattin.
Following the opening speeches, members of the Turkish and Uzbek sides introduced themselves and presented their problems, demands and suggestions. Co-Presidents and members agreed to arrange online b2b talks in the greenhouse, leather and textile sectors in the coming period.
The Turkish-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum was established in 2017 by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (UZCCI). The Turkish side of the Chamber is appointed by the TOBB and the Uzbekistan side is appointed by UZCCI. Annual economic summits, joint board meetings, business forums, business meetings and efforts to improve Turkey-Uzbekistan relations are the main areas of study of the Turkish-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industry Forum.
