TOBB University of Economy and Technology (TOBB ETU) Foreign Languages Department’s “Beyond Language: Extracurricular Activities In Student-Centric Communicative Foreign Language Studies” Project won the EU Ministry’s 2012 European Language Award. TOBB ETU, which won the award once before in 2006, has once again shown its prowess in the field of foreign language education.
The project is coordinated under the Foreign Languages Department Head Taner Yapar with faculty members Şebnem Güzelbayram, Pelin Gökmen, Ali Caner Alkan and Leyla Şahbaz. TOBB ETU Foreign Languages Department will receive the award on September 26th, 2012 from the European Union Minister Egemen Bağış.
- European Language Award
The European Language Award was established in 1995 by the European Commission to encourage EU citizens to learn 2 additional European languages in addition to their own. The European Language Award encompasses all European languages including Turkish. The European Language Award National Jury is made up of 7 members of authority in the fields of foreign language education and training.
