Turkish Software Council sets new term roadmap

The Meeting of the Software Council of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) was held via video conference chaired by Council President Ertan Barut with the attendance of by TOBB Board Member Mehmet Büyüksimitci.​

TOBB Board Member Büyüksimitci stated that as TOBB, they closely follow the activities of the Council and are ready to give all support.

Council President Ertan Barut gave a presentation on the mission and objectives of the Software Council. In his presentation, Barut also informed the council members about the programs, legislations and ongoing projects that have been attended as a Council in the last three months. Noting that the software industry is a giant industry, Barut stated that in addition to company and product valuations, it is clear that it has become one of the largest industries in the world when scaled up as a whole with the value and direct impact it adds to the country's economies.

Barut also mentioned the need to prepare the Turkish Software Industry Development, Growth Strategy Plan as soon as possible and implement incentives and supports to increase demand and investments for digitalization in all sectors, which will guide the long-term and future, and will also take into account the National Technology Move Action Plans.

The previous Council President, Melek Bar Elmas, informed the council members about the ongoing Soft_Away project under the roof of the Council. Elmas stated that the trainings cover all the necessary subjects during the opening phase to the foreign market and that they are efficient and that the consultancy phase will be introduced after the training process is completed.

At the meeting, İlknur İnam, Deputy Director General of National Technology at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, informed about the Open Source Platform, Ekol 42 Schools, Technology and Innovation Fund. Ministry officials also provided details about Sapphire Cloud dissemination, blockchain platform model and consulted with industry representatives. In addition, the Ministry and the Members of the Software Council exchanged preliminary information for the start of the process together for the Software Industry Inventory Project.
