After the opening speech, Council President Ozan Diren noted that with awareness of the importance of environmentally oriented issues, the Council is actively involved in every study. He stated the importance of effective and comprehensive planning and execution with the participation of all stakeholders (beverage producers, outlets, waste and recycling companies, sub-suppliers) of the Deposit Management System, which is one of the related issues and whose preparations are underway before the Ministry for implementation on January 1, 2022.
The topics discussed and the information obtained at the meeting attended by MASUDER, MEDER, MEYED and SUDER, who are also members of the Beverage Council, and Prof. Dr. Sn. Emin Birpınar, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization held in Ankara with the officials of the General Directorate of Environmental Management were shared with the participants.
In addition, it was emphasized that stakeholders from different fields established before the Waste and Recycling Industry Council came together and contributed to the work with the inclusion of the Deposit Return System Sub-Workgroup.
The careful examination of the effects of the Regulation on the Use of Packaging Wastes published in the Official Gazette on June 26th was shared with the necessity of implementing GEKAP, Deposit Management System and Packaging Waste Use Regulation in a way that does not cause repetition in integrity.
Councilors stated that the on-site separation of waste is essential to the success of the system and expressed a common opinion on the vital importance of the commercial and operational cycle, as well as consumer awareness. In addition, opinions were presented to integrate municipalities into the system.
As another issue, the negative effects of the Annex-8 list, which came into force with the Amendment to the Customs Duty Exemption in Article 5 of the 'Decision to Amend the Decision on State Aid in Investments' published in the Official Gazette on June 29, 2021 and no.lu 31526, were expressed.
