TOBB Board Member Şaban A. Karamehmetoğlu said in his opening speech that they are aware that the sector faces serious challenges as a result of the ongoing economic difficulties and related high costs during the pandemic; that all relevant Ministries have been contacted and problems have been communicated. While some issues have been resolved quickly and positively in order to maintain and preserve the current structure of the sectors.
At the meeting, the Councilors stated that the recent increase in energy costs has negatively affected the sector. Addressing energy costs as well as the increase in input costs (cement and lime), the Members consulted on the activities to be carried out under the roof of the Parliament as the brick-tile, pumice and gas concrete sub-sectors.
At the end of the meeting, it was decided by Council Members to hold a meeting to clarify the discussions with the Ministries to convey the sector problems and to evaluate the work of the Council Members on the European Green Deal.
