Turkey Energy Council convened with the participation of Deputy Minister Tancan

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Energy Council convened with the participation of TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç, chaired by Council President Zeki Konukoğlu as well as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Abdullah Tancan and broad participation council members consisting of public, private and non-governmental organizations.​

Zeki Konukoğlu started the agenda by thanking the participants.

In his opening remarks, Zeki Kıvanç expressed his thanks to Abdullah Tancan for his participation on behalf of TOBB Board of Directors and President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and conveyed the problems of the energy sector.

Abdullah Tancan, who consulted with Council Members, talked about the importance of reducing dependence on energy and energy supply. In this context, Tancan explained the diversity of resources and gave information about Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant and domestic and renewable energy sources.

Council Advisor Kemal Uslu presented information to the Council about the developments in the electricity market in 2021. In his presentation, Uslu made assessments regarding the evaluation of installed power and production on a resource basis, water revenues, hydraulic power plants and imported fuel.

Energy Council Committee Chairs briefed the Council on various subjects: Mithat Cem Aşık on capacity mechanisms, imported coal plants, renewable power plants; Burak Kuyan on natural gas and coal prices, long-term plans; and Mustafa Özge Özden on investment and planned maintenance realizations and export demands.
