The transport, which departed from the United Arab Emirates, where trainings were given for the TOBB TIR System, and gained the qualification of intermodal transportation to Iran by traveling through the Persian Gulf, was the first transport between the two countries under the TIR Carnet.
The expedition started in Ras al Khaima, UAE, and was then transferred by sea from Sharjah port in the UAE to Bender Abbas port in Iran via the Persian Gulf, then entered our country from Gürbulak and completed by departure to its destination, Iskenderun.
Thus, the Sharjah-Mersin route, which will last 20 days by sea, can be traveled in periods of 6 to 8 days and the delivery time can be reduced by two-thirds. At the same time, shipping costs will be significantly reduced, so there will be great advantages for buyers and shippers.
This development also means that our country's transporters can carry UAE arrivals within the scope of the TIR Carnet.
