TOBB representative Aslı Çalık reelected as CTM president

Aslı Çalık, head of the Transport and Logistics Systems Department of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), has been re-elected as President of the Property Transport Council (CTM), which is part of the Geneva-based International Road Transport Association (IRU).​

Aslı Çalık, who won the elections in Geneva, Switzerland, will serve for 3 years and will automatically serve as a member and Vice President of the IRU Presidential Council during her term, following her reelection as President of the Transport Council for Goods (CTM). TOBB representative Aslı Çalık won the elections with 217 votes against 172 votes of the Representative of the Turkmenistan Guarantor Organization (THADA).

The IRU, whose full name is the International Road Transport Association, stands out as the only organization with representation of passenger and goods transportation by international road working for the sustainable mobility of people and goods. The IRU provides insurance and coverage to all transports made under more than 1 million TIR carnets worldwide annually. In this way, simple and fast transportation of goods and passengers is provided without additional costs. TOBB is one of the IRU's most strategic and important stakeholders. TOBB, which is a guarantor in the TIR carnets system, together with the IRU, develops sustainable projects that facilitate international trade such as electronic TIR system, electronic freight porter bond (CMR), TIR coverage for container transportation.
