TOBB Board Member Engin Green stated in his opening speech that the problems of the sector were communicated to the relevant Ministries and institutions. Green added that quota restrictions on imports are seen as one of the biggest obstacles to the development of the sector.
TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç stated in his opening speech that while many sectors experienced pause during the epidemic process, the paper sector continued to make new investments and grow. Kıvanç also mentioned that the European Green Agreement is of close interest to all sectors and that it is important to raise awareness for companies in this context.
In the first agenda item of the meeting, a comprehensive presentation and information was made by TOBB Turkey Trade Centers Inc. (TTM) General Manager Noyan CiritoÄŸlu about the center established by TOBB in Chicago.
TOBB Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department Chairman A. Saygın Baban, who attended the meeting via video conference, gave an informational presentation on the outcomes of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26). Baban also held extensive consultations with Council Members on the Green Deal process.
Council Advisor Sedef ZaimoÄŸlu gave information about the meetings and workshops attended on behalf of the Council. ZaimoÄŸlu stressed the issues that are important for the paper industry and that need to be taken.
Councilors also consulted on logistical difficulties and raw material problems.
