TOBB Board Member Cengiz Günay, addressing in his opening speech the importance of the issues on the agenda of the beverage sector, stated that there is much to say and do about the beverage sector in Turkey, and that he believes that all manner of problems would be solved with the contribution of all Members in the new term.
First, opinions and suggestions were shared about the administrative fines faced by packaged water producers in accordance with the Product Safety and Technical Regulations Law No. 7223.
Councilors have expressed concern that the practice puts a burden on the cash flow balance, which has victimized the vast majority of packaged water producers and that if not intervened, a closure of firms would be inevitable.
Secondly, developments about the Deposit Management System carried out by the Turkish Environment Agency and updating the Deposit System Procedural Principles for Reusable Packaging were discussed.
In addition, the negative effects of BOTAŞ Tariff applications on agriculture-based industry and new investments were evaluated.
With the recommendations of TOBB Board Member Cengiz Günay, who listened to the problems of the sector, a decision was taken by the Council to compile the sector issues and to discuss them with the relevant Ministries.
