Software industry meets in Istanbul

Members of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Software Council Non-Governmental Organization met at the TOBB Istanbul Service Building with the participation of TOBB Board Member Mehmet Büyüksimitci and chaired by Council President Ertan Barut. After the meeting of the Heads of Non-Governmental Organizations, a meeting of the Council was held to evaluate the sector agenda with the participation of the Council Members.​

Chairman of the Software Industrialists Association (YASAD), Levent Kızıltan, President of the Turkish Association of Information Industrialists (TÜBİSAD), Rahmi Aktepe, President of the Turkish IT Association (TBD), Aydın Kolat, President of the Association of Game Designers, Developers Construction and Publishers (GAMEDER), Cengiz Utav, President of the Turkish Technology Development Foundation (TTGV) and Murat Hüseyin Candan, Council Vice President, the importance and power of addressing industry problems as a single power under the umbrella of the Software Council was discussed.

The meeting discussed the place, importance and positioning of the software sector in goods, services and next-generation technologies.

At the Council meeting, which started with the online and physical participation of the Members of the Software Council, a presentation was made by Eda Gürün, head of the TOBB Software Council, about the structure, purpose of establishment, working principles and work of the Council. In the presentation, the importance of having representatives of the sector's largest companies, non-governmental organizations and relevant public institutions and organizations under the roof of the Council, the achievements of fast transmission of problems to the Public by addressing them with all actors were conveyed.

In his presentation, Council President Ertan Barut gave information about the legislations discussed in the past quarter, the programs participated in, visits to public institutions and the work to be done in the next three months.

İlknur İnam, General Manager of National Technology at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, gave detailed information about the Turkish Software Industry Ecosystem Inventory Project, which was launched with the aim of collecting data in the sector. The importance of the inventory project was conveyed by the Council President and he stated that the inventory project workshop planned for the coming time as the Council and the progress of the project will be shaped by this workshop.

Hürol Karlı, head of the Department of Information, Software and Communication Services exports at the Ministry of Commerce, informed the Council Members about the scope of e-Turquality support prepared separately for the software sector.

At the meeting, concerns were raised by the Council Members about the importance of working remotely in the software sector, that if not intervened, the loss of labor would increase and the closure of companies would be inevitable.

At the end of the meeting, Council President Ertan Barut informed that sector issues will be compiled and discussed with the relevant Ministries together with the Council Members.
