The panel, which was held in 2 sessions with the participation of public, non-governmental organizations and private sector representatives, discussed the effects of regulations such as energy efficiency financing, the European Green Deal, Border Carbon Regulation, the Paris Climate Agreement, Fit for 55 on sectors and energy efficiency projects.

Speaking in the opening part of the panel, TOBB Deputy Secretary General Cengiz Delibaş stated that TOBB closely follows the green transformation process and supports all activities to reduce carbon emissions, especially renewable energy, and closely follows the EU's Green Deal agenda and developments related to the carbon tax at the border, which will be implemented shortly, and that this process, which has become the most important topic of the world agenda, is a matter for all actors of the economy and the public institutions and organizations, together with their institutions and organizations, to be treated holistically.

In the First Session of Energy Efficiency Financing, Fatih Ebiçlioğlu, President of the Turkish Council of Durable Consumer Goods, stated in his opening speech that in order to achieve the Carbon Neutral target in our country, technologies such as green hydrogen, carbon capture and storage need to be developed cheaply, sustainably and safely in the medium and long term.

Zeki Konukoğlu, President of the Turkey Energy Council, informed that the funding provided by international development finance organizations in Turkey for financing energy efficiency investments between 2002 and 2020 was USD 3.5 Billion, and that the total amount reached USD 5 Billion with the financing provided by domestic banks and gave a detailed assessment of the financing sources.

Zeki Poyraz, President of the Turkey Climate Control Council, stated that the incentive to be provided to existing buildings contributes greatly to energy efficiency and energy supply security, given the current building stock and the amount of energy use of the buildings in question, and also stated that the Energy Performance Application in Buildings Bep TR should be re-examined.

Fatih Memiş, Member of the Turkey Durable Consumer Goods Council, stated in his presentation that energy efficiency financing is the investment that is reimbursed as soon as possible among energy investments. In the presentation, Memiş also gave detailed information on the examples of energy efficiency financing countries and our country's financing sources.

Turkey Climate Control Council Member Ertuğrul Şen presented striking figures on the impact of investment on carbon emissions and natural gas consumption in his presentation, in which he simulated the returns of incentives such as KKDF, BSMV, filing costs and taxes for the insulation of existing buildings.

Emrah Berat Birsen, Mechanical Engineer from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, gave a comprehensive presentation on the projects carried out as energy efficiency support mechanisms, financing supports, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Department of Energy Efficiency and Environment.

Within the scope of the Second Session Energy Efficiency in Industry, the opening speeches were given by Vecdet Salgın, President of the Turkey Glass and Glass Products Industry Council, Fatih Yücellik, President of the Cement and Cement Products Council, Dr. Veysel Yayan, President of the Turkey Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Council, İbrahim Halil Kırşan, President of the Turkish Mining Council, and Zeynep Bodur Okyay, President of the Turkey Ceramic and Refractory Industry Council.

Vecdet Salgın stated in his opening speech that the importance of energy efficiency has become even more important with the increase in energy prices and that the savings to be made in this regard will be indispensable for the glass sector.

Fatih Yücelik stated that our country's cement sector is among the top three most efficient in the world cement sector and said that it will provide support to reduce our country's current account deficit by increasing energy production rates from waste.

Dr. Veysel Yayan stressed that rising energy costs in the world are driving producers to energy efficiency, and that the more efficiently energy is used in the process of the European Green Deal and climate change, the less problems with emissions will be encountered.

Erdal Sukan stated that energy costs have a cost of about 20% in paper production, and that the sector has made investments aimed at energy saving and that these investments are supported by developing technologies.

In his speech, İbrahim Halil Kırşan mentioned the importance of the mining sector for the role of critical minerals needed in the connection of the new era energy concept.

Stating that energy efficiency, especially in energy-intensive sectors, is no longer an option or choice but a necessity, Zeynep Bodur Okyay stressed the importance of closely following technologies and developments in order to ensure efficient use of all resources, especially fuel and hot air technologies, in the sector.

Onur Ünlü, Turkey Climate Control Council Member, gave detailed information about VAPs and Energy Performance Contracts in his presentation on why the question of energy efficiency can be explained by issues such as lack of resources, global competition and environmental sensitivity.

Erdem Saatçioğlu, Turkey Paper and Paper Products Industry Council Member, gave a presentation on the work that can be done in this field, where half of the use of electrical energy in the paper sector can be recovered.
