Travel Agents and Guides Council convened to address the agenda

The Meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Travel Agents and Guides Council was held via video conference under the chairmanship of Council President Firuz Bağkaya with the participation of TOBB Board Member Davut Çetin.​

Following the opening speeches, the 2021 assessment of tourism and the predictions for 2022 were made by the councilors. In addition, current problems in the sector were raised by the members and solution proposals were presented.

During the meeting, the issue of exclusivity in the domestic market was discussed and ideas were exchanged. It was decided to forward the problems and proposals in the state railway agency relations to the relevant institutions/ organizations.

Councilors said that 2022 looked promising for the sector, but despite the increase in overnight rates worldwide, according to World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reports, the rate was 26% in our country.

The difficulty experienced by travel agencies due to the decisions of the consumer arbitration committees was expressed. It was decided to take initiatives with the relevant institutions to solve the problem with the consumer arbitration committees and to correct the bad image that is being created for Turkey in Europe.
