The meeting, which was organized with the support of the German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was attended by chambers and exchanges.
TOBB Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department Head A. Saygın Baban, who gave the opening speech, said that the climate crisis is a matter of the next 30 years and that the fight against climate change will shape every sector, especially industry and trade. Baban stated that the real agenda of the Turkish business world is green and digital transformation, goin on to explain activities for the members of chambers and exchanges.
Dr. Thilo Pahl, Secretary General of the German-Turkish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also gave a brief introduction to the institution and mentioned the importance of green transformation for the private sector.
Later, Henrik Vagt, Executive Director of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, gave a presentation explaining the services the Berlin CCI provides to its members on the climate crisis, green transformation and the European Green Deal.
He stated that the Chambers of Commerce and Industry should take a leading role in the process of combating climate change and have a structure that raises the awareness of its members, guides its members and provides contact with the relevant institutions.
Vagt stated that there are advanced trainings on sustainability, incentive competitions are organized, special software is developed for the measurement of carbon footprint, and that the expectation of German companies is that the Chambers will guide them.
