Turkey Energy Council convened via video conference

The Meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Energy Council was chaired by Council President Zeki Konukoğlu with the participation of TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç, with the participation of public administration, non-governmental organizations and private sector representatives.​

In his opening speech, Council President Zeki Konukoğlu noted the effects of increases in energy production costs on the sector.

TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç expressed his views on what can be done towards renewable energy sources.

Council Advisor Kemal Uslu made a presentation to Council Members on the 2021 Electricity Market Actualizations and the developments in the first three months of 2022, which are among the agenda items of the meeting.

The Council Commissions Chairs briefed Council Members on their work.

Chairman of the Production and Investment Commission M. Cem Aşık touched on the importance of policy development in order to ensure energy supply security within the scope of developments in the sector; Trade Commission President Burak Kuyan referred to long-term contract agreements for the electricity trade. Distribution Commission Chairman Mustafa Özge Özden stated that there is a significant need for financing due to the difference in electricity purchase/sale VAT.
