TOBB Board Member Şaban A. Karamehmetoğlu stated in his opening speech that they are aware that the sector faces serious challenges as a result of the developments in the economy and the associated high costs, that all relevant Ministries have been interviewed, problems have been communicated and some issues have been achieved quickly and positively in order to maintain and survive the current structure of the sectors.
Councilors said the recent increase in energy costs at the meeting had negatively affected the sector. In addition to energy costs, he also discussed the increase in input costs (cement and lime). As tile, pumice, autoclaved aerated concrete sectors, the initiatives which could be undertaken by the council were consulted on.
Also at the meeting, Dr. Onur Yüksel, General Manager of TOBB Compliance Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center, presented to Council Members about the services of national and international mediation and dispute resolution center based on technology and mastering the business world in Turkey.
At the end of the meeting, TOBB Environment Directorate Deputy Expert Esin Özarslan informed Council Members about the arrangements made by the European Union within the scope of the European Green Deal, the mechanism of carbon regulation at the border, the emissions trading system and the impact of these regulations on the sectors.
