Horizon Europe Green Transformation Supports Webinar was held under the umbrella of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) with the contributions of the Directorate for EU Affairs and TÜBİTAK.

TOBB Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department Head Saygın Baban, giving the opening speech of the webinar, emphasized that the climate change agenda is a top issue for the world and stated that many countries have set net-zero emission targets and that these decisions will affect companies, countries and living conditions.

Explaining that the Green Deal is also a development strategy for Turkey, Baban stated that access to financial resources is very valuable and that it is not possible to remove such a large scale of fixed capital investment without financing, pointing out the importance of the green transformation supports provided by the Directorate for EU Affairs and TÃœBÄ°TAK in Turkey.

Bülent Özcan, Director General of Financial Affairs and Project Implementation of the Directorate for EU Affairs, stated that the Horizon Europe program within the scope of the Union Programs, in which Turkey has been involved by paying a price, provides important opportunities for green transformation. Özcan stated that this program is the world's largest civilian R&D program with a budget of 95.5 billion Euros. Stating that Turkey is one of the countries that need the most resources for green transformation, Özcan drew attention to the importance of investing more in technology-related issues in order to be more competitive in green transformation.

TÜBİTAK Vice President Ahmet Yozgatlıgil stated that in the Horizon 2020 program, Turkey managed to receive a support budget in a larger amount than the contribution it paid for the first time and that the private sector had a very important share in this success with 39%. Yozgatlıgil stated that each project to be proposed in order to accelerate the achievement of the Green Deal targets within the scope of Horizon Europe through R&D and innovation is aimed to contribute to the green transformation and that these projects are expected to contribute to the determination of the standards of the products, processes and methods to be developed for the green transformation in the future.

Following the opening speeches, TÃœBÄ°TAK experts made presentations on green transformation supports within the scope of the Horizon Europe Program. Detailed information was provided regarding the EIC Accelerator Program; Digital Industry and Space Cluster; Climate, Energy and Mobility Cluster; and the Food, Bio-economy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment Cluster.

After the questions of the participants were answered, the webinar ended.
