Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

In cooperation with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) and TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETU); The historical accumulations of long-lasting companies of the business world operating in Turkey will be revealed. As the 100^th anniversary of its establishment approaches, the “100-Year Enterprises – Century-Old Sycamores of the Turkish Business World” project was launched in order to document the achievements of the Republic and the multidimensional rich history of the private sector in Turkey through the eyes of the enterprises that have witnessed these developments.

This project aims to investigate how the economic and social achievements of the Republic are reflected in the activities of the private sector; In light of the opportunities and difficulties experienced by enterprises over the years, it is aimed to examine regional and sectoral developments and to determine their contributions to the development of cities.

- The essence of the project in three stages

In the first phase of the project, three separate data and information compilation studies will be carried out. In the first stage, within the scope of the development policies followed since the establishment of the Republic, statistical-biographical-historical sources will be scanned and documented in order to determine the impact of public investments made in education, transportation, infrastructure and similar fields on private sector activities in different provinces of Turkey. Secondly, an inventory of long-lasting enterprises will be created in each city. By conducting interviews with these enterprises, the first step of the 'oral history' study that will reveal the historical accumulation of the private sector will be taken. Thirdly, data on the establishment, activity and the general outlook of the number of members of the Chambers and Commodity Exchanges from 1923 and before to the present day will be compiled.
