Council Speaker Alper Kanca stated that the Sector Councils are an important structure in conveying the demands and made the presentation of automotive figures.
Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya, General Director of Exports of the Ministry of Trade, and Mustafa İlker Özdem, Deputy General Manager of Exports, took the floor on the subject of breakdowns in the European Union supply chain and the tasks that Turkey can undertake and the opportunities that will arise.
General Manager of Exports Mehmet Ali Kılıçkaya touched on the importance of the Council meetings and stated that they will follow up on the issues discussed in the meeting. Kılıçkaya noted that the automotive sector is a large global sector employing 80 million people with a trade volume of 2.7 trillion dollars. Kılıçkaya, emphasizing that the automotive sector is the sector with the highest export figures in our country, stated that it is one of the important manufacturers of the world with 16.1 billion dollars of main industry and 16.5 billion dollars of sub-industry.
Kılıçkaya stated that they think that our country will come to the stage as a new player as of 2023 with TOGG and that an important ecosystem will be formed. He stated that the trend topics of the sector are new generation vehicles, the development of automotive technologies, autonomous driving, the development of in-vehicle infotainment systems and communication systems, and the integration of advanced production technologies. Kılıçkaya stated that the main reason for the breakdowns in global supply chains is sheet metal prices, increases in base metals and plastic prices, magnesium, chip and container shortages, and shared with the participants that the crisis can be turned into an opportunity as a country.
A presentation was made by Council Vice President Sevgi Özçelik about raw material price increases. The meeting was ended with the opinions of the Council Members.
