TOBB Climate Control Council President Zeki Poyraz said that planning social housing projects as waste-compatible and climate-friendly with renewable energy systems will provide an important support to the fight against global warming. Poyraz underlined that the public administration should lead the private sector in this regard.

TOBB Climate Control Council President Zeki Poyraz said that the public administration should lead the private sector in the fight against global warming. Emphasizing that the construction of social housing projects by using waste-compatible, energy-efficient and climate-friendly materials with renewable energy systems means that buildings evolve into the concept of Near Zero Energy Buildings (NSEB), Zeki Poyraz stated that this is a big step in the fight against global warming.

TOBB Climate Control Council President Zeki Poyraz said, “The leadership of the public administration in the fight against global warming is very important. Designing social housing projects as NSEB will mean the efficient use of our country's resources, the reduction of energy costs and current account deficit, as well as the fight against global warming.”

- The share of buildings in energy consumption is over 40 percent

Stating that the share of buildings in energy consumption is over 40 percent, Poyraz said the following in his evaluation of the subject:

“As a reflection of the commitments to the Paris Climate Agreement, all buildings with a total construction area of more than 5,000 square meters in a parcel must meet at least 5 percent of the energy to be used from renewable energy sources. Therefore, it is important that this concept is also used for buildings to be built in social housing projects, and that the buildings have thick insulation, coated insulating glass units and windows with improved thermal insulation values. In addition, thanks to renewable energy systems, as the building is used, it will provide high savings to its owners with low energy bills.”
