The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Retail Council Meeting was held via video conference under the chairmanship of Council Speaker Alp Önder Özpamukçu.​

Council Speaker Alp Önder Özpamukçu shared the developments since the last Council meeting and stated that steps will be taken in public-private sector cooperation to solve the problems of the sector.

Özpamukçu stated that there are differences between categories with the negativities experienced, but the sector generally had a good year. He stated that high inflation increased the need for cash flow, caused erosion in capitals, and that these would have negative reflections on balance sheets.

At the meeting, it was stated that before the decisions to be taken in 2023, it is extremely important to make impact analyzes and to get the opinions of the sector as always expressed and that expectations have developed in this direction.

Sector representatives, who also touched on the issue of self-management of the waste of the markets, which has been frequently discussed in the sector in the recent period, emphasized the need to create awareness and stated that the application processes, follow-up, sales and notification issues should be facilitated in order to carry out the said activity by the markets.

At the meeting, a general evaluation of 2022 was made and the message that 2023 gives hope to the sector with the positive picture expected to be experienced in tourism after a good year was conveyed.

The meeting ended with the wish that the new year would bring health, happiness and peace.
