The Future of Transportation and Transit Transportation in the Black Sea, Central Asia and Middle East Regions Conference was hosted by the Transportation Minister Binali Yıldırım with the partnership of TOBB and IRU (International Road Transport Union), held on the 28th of November, 2012 in İzmir. Representing TOBB at the conference was Board Member Harun Karacan.​

The opening speech of the conference, attended by the Transportation Ministers of Azerbaijan, Moldova and Georgia, was made by Karacan who stressed the importance of the KEİ region for world trade and transportation as well as TOBB’s work on transportation.

Following dinner, a meeting took place between Transportation Minister Binali Yıldırım, IRU Secretary General Martin Marmy, IRU Middle East and Region Permanent Representative Haydar Özkan and TOBB Board Member Harun Karacan.
