Following the opening speech of TOBB Board Member S. Selim Kandemir, General Director of Civil Aviation Kemal Yüksek talked about the work done in the field of aviation in the last 20 years and the momentum gained by our country. It was stated that flight points increased greatly with the air transportation agreements made with other countries, the corporate transformation model study was initiated, and it was revised by coming together with stakeholders to produce services in accordance with the requirements of the age and to ensure the digital transformation of the sector. It was also stated that the sector is almost close to 2019 values at the end of 2022.
At the meeting, it was also stated that DHMI's tariff for 2023 should reach a measurable level. In addition, it is stated that the Air Force Command will soon recruit pilots from the sector and that there is a situation where more pilots will withdraw from the sector until 2025 and will adversely affect the sector. It was stated that it would be more appropriate for the pilots to go especially after the summer period had passed and that the issue was followed with sensitivity.
As another agenda item, the need for the 2nd runway and terminal for Sabiha Gökçen Airport, the situations related to bird strikes, the measures regarding GPS signal losses at airports throughout Türkiye, the exception and regulation of the obligation to store critical data domestically and the cancellation of the domestic maximum fee application were discussed.
