Increase in exports in the leather sector

TOBB Turkey Leather and Leather Products Industry Council convened under Council President Hakkı Matraş. During the meeting where Matraş provided information regarding the recent developments in the sector, Council Vice President Lemi Tolunay provided information regarding the exports in the leather and leather products sector.​

Tolunay reported that between January and August of 2012, an increase of 8.5% has occurred in comparison to the same period of the previous year, reaching a trade volume of 1 billion, 4 million USD. Council Vice President Lemi Tolunay reported that exports have been made largely to Russia, Italy, Germany, Iraq, France, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China.
- Target markets may change
Council Vice President Ender Yazıcıoğlu drew attention to the increasing quality in Turkey and said that new markets could be found to replace those markets which suffer shrinkage. Yazıcıoğlu stated that the point which must be noted is that when choosing a new market, the needs analyses regarding said markets must be conducted.
