Financial Technologies Council convened

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Financial Technologies Council Meeting was held at the TOBB Istanbul Service Building under the chairmanship of Koray Bahar, President of the Council, with the participation of Mahmut Özgener, TOBB Board Member Responsible for the Council, Ali İhsan Güngör, Deputy Chairman of the Capital Markets Board, Serdar Murat Öztaner, General Manager of Payment Systems and Financial Technologies at the CBRT, Gencay Karaman, Project Manager of the Presidential Finance Office, Vural Çelik, Unit Manager of the Digital Transformation Office of the Presidency, and Selvi Kocabay, Head of the IV Audit and Implementation Department of the Competition Authority.​

Mahmut Özgener, Member of the Board of Directors of TOBB, expressed his pleasure to come together with the Members of the Council and emphasized the importance of acting jointly on the issues of importance for the sector.

In his opening speech, Council President Koray Bahar touched upon the priority topics of the sector and emphasized the importance of the support of public institutions in solving the problems.

At the meeting, the preparations for secondary legislation for payment and electronic money institutions, crypto asset regulation preparations and the Central Bank's Regulation on the Non-Use of Crypto Assets in Payments were evaluated by the Members of the Council.

Sector representatives also touched upon the issue of providing access to databases held by public institutions at the same level as banks, and exchanged ideas on payment systems planned to be built on FAST.

At the meeting, where plans for the implementation of the National Fintech Strategy were discussed, the opportunities to be provided in the field of fintech in the Istanbul Finance Center were evaluated.

Public institution officials, who were invited to the meeting regarding the agenda items, answered the questions from the Members and stated that they always support the sector in solving their problems.
