Türkiye Energy Council came together to discuss sectoral developments

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Energy Council meeting was convened via video conference with the participation of TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç, under the chairmanship of Council President Zeki Konukoğlu, and with the participation of public, non-governmental organizations and private sector representatives.​

In his opening speech, Zeki Konukoğlu, Chairman of the Council, brought to the agenda issues that closely concern the sector such as electricity storage systems and off-shore wind turbines, while Zeki Kıvanç, TOBB Board Member responsible for the Council, talked about the importance of technological developments such as hydrogen, battery technologies and R&D studies on electric vehicles.

Following the opening speeches, Council Advisor Kemal Uslu made a presentation to the Council on the developments in the electricity market, and Cem Aşık, Chairman of the Production and Investment Committee, made evaluations on the headings of the Medium Term Plan related to the sector.

Özge Özden, Chairman of the Distribution Committee, talked about the importance of R&D projects in the fields of digital transformation, cyber security and electric vehicles, while Selman Gezer, speaking on behalf of the Trade Committee, informed the Council on the developments regarding the Maximum Settlement Price.

Within the agenda, Meriç Emre Aydın, Energy Markets Operations Director of Energy Exchange İstanbul (EXIST or Enerji Piyasaları İşletme A.Ş. / EPİAŞ), informed the members about the Energy Market Management System (EMMS).

After consultations on sectoral developments, the Council Members agreed to carry out work within the Council after sharing their views on what can be done as an Council within the earthquake disaster experienced on February 6.
