Extensive consultation on waste import processes

The Waste Import Processes Consultation Meeting was held at the Twin Towers with the participation of Zeki Kıvanç, Member of the Board of Directors of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), Hakkı Karabörklü, Director General of Product Safety and Inspection at the Ministry of Trade, Recep Akdeniz, Director General of Environmental Management at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and Cihan Tatar, Director General of Environmental Impact Assessment, Permits and Inspection.​

In his opening speech, TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç emphasized that access to waste is becoming more important every day and that waste is a raw material. Kıvanç emphasized that waste import processes should be handled sensitively and mentioned the work carried out by TOBB Waste and Recycling Industry Council on this issue.

At the meeting, requests regarding the Ministry of Trade's Communiqué on Import Inspection of Wastes Controlled for Environmental Protection (Product Safety and Inspection: 2023/3) and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change's Waste Import Implementation Circular (2022/19) were comprehensively evaluated.
