TOBB Türkiye Energy Council convened

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Energy Council meeting convened via video conference the participation of TOBB Board Member İbrahim Burkay and TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç, public, non-governmental organizations and private sector representatives, under the chairmanship of Council President Zeki Konukoğlu.​

In his opening speech, İbrahim Burkay brought up the technologies on the agenda of the sector such as renewable energy, storage technologies and aggregation, while Zeki Kıvanç emphasized the importance of green transformation and carbon emission issues and wished that the upcoming Eid al-Adha would be auspicious.

After consulting with the members about the developments in the electricity market, Zeki Konukoğlu, Council President, made evaluations about electricity tariffs, installed power and electricity consumption.

Cem Aşık, Council Vice President, who took the floor on behalf of the Distribution and Trade Committees within the agenda, made a presentation on the “2024 January-May Electricity Market Realizations” prepared by Council Consultant Kemal Uslu after informing the Council about the need for a network-specific strategy, the establishment of a sustainable price regime and subsidies.

Tamer Çalışır, Chairman of the Production and Investment Committee, gave brief information about the increase in production, the expectation of legislative innovations to increase production capacity and diversity, the need for financial solutions for the projects, and the work to be carried out for production with storage and the collecting license offered for unlicensed production.
