Future targets determined at the Forest Products Council Meeting

The meeting of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Forest Products Council, in which the sector's targets for 2024 were evaluated, was held at the TOBB İstanbul Service Building under the chairmanship of Council President Haluk Yıldız with the participation of TOBB Board Member Saim Özakalın and Bülent Güneş, Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Forestry Operation and Marketing Department.​

Saim Özakalın, who made the opening speech of the meeting, stated that the Ministry has a more moderate approach to the issues of “Forest Products Sales Systems” and “Forest Commodity Classification” on the agenda and wished the council to continue its work actively.


At the meeting, it was emphasized that forest products sales systems should be negotiated by the members of the Council together with the General Directorate of Forestry. In this context, the members of the Council, who expressed the opinion that a more stable system should be established by focusing on the effects and maturities of wood raw material price fluctuations, expressed that they are always ready to contribute to the General Directorate of Forestry.


How the 12th Development Plan covering the years 2024-2028 will be shaped in terms of the forestry sector and the distribution of duties of the Council members in the preparation of the plan were also discussed.


In the last part of the meeting, suggestions and wishes of the Council members were tabled.
