As the first agenda item of the meeting, Burak Yanıkoğlu, Head of the Chemical, Health, Textile and Wood Products Industry Department of the General Directorate of Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, made a presentation on the “New Domestic Goods Communiqué.” The content, implementation and effects of the Communiqué on the sector were detailed and information was given on how companies can benefit from it.
Afterwards, İŞKUR Employment Specialist Gamze Aktaş made an informative presentation on active labor market practices for training qualified labor force. In the presentation, it was stated that as a result of the consultations between İŞKUR and TOBB, studies on the organization of vocational training programs combining theoretical and practical training in public-private sector cooperation in order to train the qualified workforce demanded by the labor market were discussed. In this context, it was stated that the vocational training courses organized in line with the NİYEP (Qualified Workforce Training) Cooperation Protocol aim to train individuals with the qualifications needed in the labor market, increase employment and improve the professional competencies of the unemployed, while İŞKUR’s support in this field was shared with sector representatives.
Dr. H. Bader Arslan from House of Advice Consultancy made an assessment presentation on the current state of the furniture sector and gave information about the growth potential of the sector, the economic obstacles it faces and its competitive advantages.
Also at the meeting, Uludağ University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Eryılmaz made a presentation on the latest outlook of the world economy and expectations for the future.
Finally, Ercan Ata, President of TOBB Furniture Products Council, gave information about the issues to be discussed at the TOBB Türkiye Sectoral Economy Council and emphasized the topics that sector representatives should focus on in the coming period. The meeting was finalized after the evaluations made in this context.
