Waste and Recycling Industry Council evaluated sector’s current issues

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Waste and Recycling Industry Council meeting was held with the participation of TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç.​

Speaking at the opening, TOBB Board Member Zeki Kıvanç gave information about the EEYY Information and Sectoral MET Communiqué Drafts Consultation Meeting held with the Presidency of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change on May 7th. Kıvanç emphasized the importance of the issue to the Members of the Council by stating that there is a separate draft for the waste sector in the said drafts.

In the first agenda item of the meeting; With the participation of Selin Çobanoğlu Öz, Head of the International Agreements and Legislation Compliance Department of the General Directorate of European Union Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, future cooperation between the recycling sector and the Ministry was discussed.

In the meeting, the topic of waste imports and the road map to be followed by the Council in 2025 were discussed in detail.

In the next agenda item; future projections for achieving a sustainable waste management system and how the Council should take action on this issue were discussed with the Council Members.

A series of presentations were made by the members of the Council about the recycling of waste oils, evaluating the current regulation studies, national and international developments.

The meeting, which was also informed about the work of the OIZ Commission established within the Council and the field visit to the Çeltik region, ended with information about the 2nd Uludağ Environment Forum, IFAT Fair and Replast Eurasia Fair held in May.
