The “National Occupational Health and Safety Council,” which was established to determine policies and strategies on occupational health and safety throughout the country, convened on July 4, 2025 under the chairmanship of Minister of Labor and Social Security Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan. TOBB Board Member Seyit Ardıç and Deputy Secretary General Cengiz Delibaş attended the meeting on behalf of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye.

Minister Işıkhan stated that a total of 28 meetings have been held since the establishment of the Council in 2025, and that the meetings have made significant contributions to our country’s achievement of an occupational health and safety policy that meets international standards and covers our national standards. Noting that occupational accidents and occupational diseases are still a serious problem affecting millions of workers, Mr. Işıkhan emphasized that all stakeholders should take joint responsibility in solving the problems in the field of occupational health and safety in our country.

TOBB Board Member Seyit Ardıç stated that workers and employers are inseparable parts of a whole in the production process and said that our most important debt to employees is to protect them against all risks. Stating that they aim to reduce occupational accidents and occupational diseases to the lowest possible level, Ardıç emphasized that it is unacceptable for employees to be harmed due to negligence and imprudence.

Stating that they believe that making professions certified will reduce occupational accidents, Ardıç stated that MEYBEM (Vocational Qualification and Certification Center), established by TOBB with this understanding, has made a great contribution to increasing the number of certified employees. Ardıç expressed their demand for the re-introduction of vocational qualification examination and certification support.
