The meeting began with opening remarks by Orhan Solak, Deputy Head of the Climate Change Directorate, and Volkan Bozay, Deputy Chairman of the TOBB Türkiye Cement and Cement Products Council.
The first agenda item of the meeting was an informational presentation on the work carried out by the Climate Change Directorate and the current situation. Participants made general assessments of global practices and discussed how the ETS process in Türkiye would take shape for the cement sector.
The second part of the meeting addressed allocation methods. Detailed consultations were held on basic concepts, sectoral activity factor principles, and principles for determining benchmark values.
Subsequently, the cement sector’s relationship with the carbon pricing mechanism, the identification of sectoral needs, and proposed solutions tailored to these needs were evaluated.
The meeting concluded after participants’ views and suggestions were heard.
