The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Maritime Council Meeting was held at the TOBB İstanbul Service Building with the participation of TOBB Executive Board Vice President Tamer Kıran, chaired by Maritime Council President Recep Düzgit, and attended by Council Members.

In the first part of the meeting, opinions from the sector regarding the Draft Ship Agency Regulation were evaluated. It was stated that changes regarding the reduction of document fees, the removal of the Class D agency application, and the reorganization of penalties were welcomed by sector representatives. However, concerns were raised about the severity of agency closure penalties and the implementation of online training.

During the meeting, information was shared regarding the requirement to install cameras on agent and pilot boats under police supervision at ports, as well as the transfer of ISPS authority to the Ministry of Interior.

The meeting also addressed the acceleration of the Mersin Main Container Port Project. It was emphasized that the project is of great importance in terms of Türkiye’s maritime transport capacity and its strategic position in the Eastern Mediterranean. Opinions were shared that delays in the investment process could negatively affect logistics competitiveness, and therefore the process should be accelerated and facilitated.

The meeting concluded with an assessment of the sector's priority agenda items and the presentation of proposed solutions.
