Speaking at the opening of the Packaging Council meeting, which was attended by a large number of participants and brought together important stakeholders in the sector, Zeki Kıvanç drew attention to the rapidly changing structure of the packaging sector, its increasing export performance, and Türkiye’s strengthening position in international competition. Noting that regulations create both opportunities and risks for the sector, he emphasized the importance of collective wisdom and cooperation.
During the meeting, which addressed developments in the sector, expectations, and issues awaiting resolution, Selim Kaplan, Director of the Food Codex and Feed Legislation Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, provided information on the Commission Regulation on Recycled Plastic Materials in Contact with Food.
The meeting, which also evaluated recycled plastic raw material imports, EU Environmental Legislation, and extended producer responsibility in secondary raw material supply, port, customs, and storage fees, and the packaging sector going through a critical period in terms of production, exports, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. The meeting concluded with assessments and shared aspirations for 2026.
