Cosmetics and Hygienic Products Industry Council meets in İstanbul

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Cosmetics and Hygienic Products Industry Council Meeting was held in İstanbul, chaired by Council President Ahmet Pura and attended by TOBB Board Member Cengiz Günay. ​​

Cengiz Günay emphasized that the cosmetics and hygienic products sector is a strategic area that generates high added value, contributes to employment, and increases competitiveness through regulatory compliance, drawing attention to the importance of the Council’s work.

During the meeting, a general assessment of cosmetic product regulations was made, addressing issues encountered in practice and the sector’s expectations. Subsequently, biocidal products and regulations in this area were discussed, with evaluations made on current developments in the sector and regulatory processes.

Another item on the agenda outlined a general framework for medical device regulatory compliance, with sector representatives discussing challenges encountered in the field and proposing solutions.

Meanwhile, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Trade, developments regarding the European Union Regulation on the Prevention of Deforestation and the postponement of this regulation were discussed, and the potential impacts of the regulation on the sector were assessed.

Council members exchanged views on protecting the sector’s competitiveness, effectively implementing regulatory compliance processes, and strengthening communication with public authorities within the scope of the agenda items. The meeting concluded with wishes and hopes.
