TOBB Türkiye Packaging Council convened with a busy agenda

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) Packaging Council meeting was held in İstanbul with a busy agenda, attended by TOBB Board Member Engin Yeşil and chaired by Council President Mustafa Tacir.​

The meeting began with opening remarks, during which TOBB Board Member Engin Yeşil emphasized that the agenda included topics of utmost importance for the sector. He stated that developments directly affecting the packaging sector would be discussed, drawing attention to the sector’s economic size and strategic position in the country’s economy. He noted that the packaging industry was showing steady growth with its increasing production capacity and high value-added potential.

Following the opening speeches, Fatih Özçınar, Director of the Chemical, Health, Textile, and Wood Products Industry Department at the Ministry of Industry and Technology’s General Directorate of Industry, provided information on the rates and coefficients published under the New Domestic Product Regulation.

The agenda item titled “Information on the EU Public Procurement Legislation Revision Public Consultation Process” was evaluated with the participation and contributions of Elif Berrak Taşyürek, Head of the EU Single Market and Green Deal Department at the Ministry of Trade’s Directorate General for International Agreements and the EU. In this context, the possible implications of European Union regulations on Türkiye’s trade relations were discussed, and the importance of closely monitoring the process was emphasized.

The meeting also addressed the potential impact on Türkiye of the Free Trade Agreement currently under negotiation between the European Union and India, with contributions from Ahmet Yavuzhan Erdem, Head of the Free Trade Agreements II Department at the Ministry of Trade’s Directorate General for International Agreements and the EU.

The meeting concluded with consultations on the Ministry of Trade’s 2026/3 Import Protection Measures Communiqué.
