TOBB Turkey Patent and Brand Delegates Council convened in Ankara under Council President Kaan Dericioğlu with the attendance of TOBB Board Member Mustafa Yardımcı. Council members stated that the lack of a profession act for patent and brand delegates regulating discipline, behavioral rules and pricing is causing everyone to act on their own initiative, leading to unfair competition in the sector. Council members emphasized the need for a commission to form a profession act as soon as possible. In his speech during the meeting TOBB Board Member Mustafa Yardımcı stated that the private sector lacked proper knowledge of the delegacy system, therefore regional meetings should be held and the information about the sector disseminated.“The conservation of geographical marks prevents migration”Dericioğlu stated his agreement with the fact that brand, patent and geographical marks are not well known. Recalling EU’s “The conservation of geographical marks prevents migration” statement, TOBB Patent and Brand Delegates Council President Kaan Dericioğlu expressed his wish to pioneer the acquisition of a region’s geographical mark as the council and suggested the publication of a Intellectual Property Guide.“Planned Presidential visits; complaints of unethical behavior; TPE, knowledge, document, operations of documentation units and penalties, duration and register number on the TPE website; opinions of the members on patent, design, brand registration procedure guide as part of the Synchronization Project and the presentation of the Council’s opinion to the relevant authorities, preparation of a bilateral Code of Conduct agreement; preparation of the patent, brand and geographical marks proposals and the vocational training with “Intellectual Property Code” as an example.
